Illuminated Costumes

This collaboration between myself and lighting designer/effects engineer Austin Bomkamp sought to explore potential avenues of incorporating illuminated elements into costumes. Our proposal was awarded the Don and Susan Bobbitt Scholarship Grant, and involved both building illuminated costumes from scratch, as well as incorporating illumination into existing garments.

These pieces used 3 unique methods of illumination: fiber optic textiles, micromini LEDs, and ElectroLuminescent wire. These elements were soldered into circuits and controlled via an Arduino chip.
