Fete Galante

This tragic story of forbidden love and mistaken identity was staged for the first time in the United States at Susquehanna University in February 2024. It was produced as part of a set of two 40-minute operas, both of which utilized classic Commedia dell’Arte characters to tell their stories. I enjoyed intertwining traditional costumes with contemporary silhouettes to create a stark yet enchanting atmosphere. The backdrop of a black and white masquerade unraveling into a wild revelry contrasts with the recognizable colors and shapes of Commedia stock.
